A showcase of our work. This page is intentionally loaded with large, unoptimized images to demonstrate mod_pagespeed's image optimization.
This gallery contains 8 large images totaling approximately 20 MB of unoptimized image data. With mod_pagespeed enabled, the module automatically:
Toggle PageSpeed off using the banner above to compare the raw vs. optimized experience.
2400 x 1600 JPEG at quality 98. Original size: ~4.1 MB. mod_pagespeed will compress this significantly and serve WebP to supporting browsers.
1800 x 1200 JPEG at quality 98. Original size: ~2.2 MB. Note how mod_pagespeed also rewrites the image URL to include a content hash for cache-busting.
2000 x 1400 JPEG at quality 98. Original size: ~2.8 MB. With resize_rendered_images enabled, this will be scaled down to match its CSS-constrained width.
1600 x 1200 JPEG at quality 98. Original size: ~2.0 MB. The combination of compression and WebP conversion typically achieves 60-80% size reduction.
1400 x 1000 JPEG at quality 98. Original size: ~1.4 MB. mod_pagespeed's progressive JPEG conversion makes images render progressively during download.
1200 x 800 JPEG at quality 98. Original size: ~970 KB. Even smaller images benefit from optimization — every kilobyte matters on mobile networks.
800 x 800 PNG, 16-bit depth. Original size: ~3.0 MB. Since this PNG has no transparency, mod_pagespeed can convert it to JPEG for massive size reduction.
800 x 800 PNG, 16-bit depth. Original size: ~2.9 MB. The PNG-to-WebP conversion alone can reduce this image to under 100 KB without visible quality loss.
